Tom Stevenson, Essi Avellan MW & Tony Jordan have recently revealed their new guide to the best champagnes & sparkling wines on the planet. And English sparkling wine estate, Gusbourne, won a gold medal for their Blanc de Blancs 2010. This gold medal win for their Blanc de Blancs 2010 was their first in the CSWWC (this is a recently launched competition started in 2014), this wine also won a ‘gold outstanding’ in the IWSC 2015 competition.
Named English Wine Producer of the Year in 2013, Gusbourne is probably the most successful wine producer in England. In the International Wine Challenge, Gusbourne has consistently won Gold medals for the last 3 years. Since the launch 5 years ago, their Blanc de Blancs has been awarded 8 gold medals and 2 trophies. During this time their Brut Reserve has also won 3 golds and a trophy. In addition to this, their Blanc de Blancs ‘Late Disgorged’ 2007 also won a ‘gold outstanding’ in this year’s IWSC, as well as gold in the International Wine Challenge and a gold in the Decanter World Wine Awards, meaning that in 2015 it received gold medals in three of the most prestigious and respected international wine competitions.
Year after year, with both vineyards in Kent and Sussex, Gusbourne estate is achieving great results and 2015 has perhaps been their most successful year with 2 Gold Outstanding, 3 Gold and 11 Silver medals across all major competitions. Of these, the IWSC was perhaps their greatest result with all 6 of their wines entered winning Gold and Silver. In the trailer of “The Path of Humility” – a film on Handmade Vintage Sparkling wines that is going to come out soon – Andrew Weeber, the chairman of Gusbourne Estate, tells about the story of a lady who laughed at him when he said he was planting a vineyard in England to produce english sparkling wine…
Due for Release on October 23, 2015.
