In a survey made by the prestigious British magazine Drinks International, Chapoutier maintained its position as the World’s Most Admired French Wine Brand. The full list of the 50 World’s Most Admired Wine Brands includes Torres, Penfolds, Cloudy Bay, Chateau Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Vega Sicilia, Lafite Rothschild, Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Pétrus and many other great names. The members of the group of experts forming the jury included Masters of Wines, advisers, winemakers, wine writers, buyers, educators and analysts, and this year incorporated more personalities from the emerging Asian markets in order to give a more balanced look to the panel and reflect the explosive growth that wine is experiencing in that region. The group of influential persons that comprised the jury was asked to vote on the most admired wine brands, with which they had no associations, on the basis of criteria including: 1) Constant improvement in quality of the wine 2) Reflects its region or country of origin 3) Responds to the needs and tastes of its objective public 4) Successful distribution and packaging 5) The wine is very attractive to a widely-spread demographic group Michel Chapoutier commented: “I always considered Chapoutier as a signature and not as a brand. So maybe this signature has been transformed gradually into a brand through our strong commitment to peasant values : an obsession with the quality of the wine, an obsession with the message of the wine by itself, an obsession with the integrity of the wine and always regardless of price..” For its part, the magazine Drinks International commented that “Once again Chapoutier is the most admired French wine brand in the vote. Chapoutier remains as passionate as ever about his winemaking philosophy and his legacy. “Twenty years from now, I don’t see it being different from today. M.Chapoutier will be making wine. There is one thing I want to defend: making rare, terroir wines.
