A château combining the splendour of the 18th century, the eccentricity of a marquis and the dual Franco-Chinese culture

In Bordeaux, the architectural project at the Château Marquis d’Alesme is making great strides forward. After an initial video in which Marjolaine de Coninck, managing director of the Labégorce vineyards, presented the origins of this exceptional project, it is now time for the men who carry out the daily work on-site to share their vision in the video “Les Hommes de l’Art” (Art and Artisans).

The project imagined by Nathalie Perrodo required architect Fabien Pedelaborde to surround himself with the most highly skilled artisans to work these materials to the highest standard. This is the height of sophistication and refinement, a true modern experience of luxury. For Fabien Pedelaborde, it is “an ambitious, wonderful project, a complete piece”, the work of a lifetime. “Marquis d’Alesme shows its face unexpectedly beneath a very classical façade on the Margaux village side. Then, as you enter the building itself, you discover a wonderland, reminding us with every subtle nuance that the owners are of two cultures.”

The Perrodo family’s Franco-Chinese culture represents an amazing opportunity and a wealth of ideas to support and nourish this unique project in Bordeaux. The splendour of the 18th century in Europe and the Marquis d’Alesme’s eccentricity quite naturally guided this exploration of the family’s dual heritage. Day after day at Marquis d’Alesme, interaction between artisan craftsmen are giving rise to a complete work, a narrative made up of a thousand little stories. Every day, they create harmony so that it will all come together as a single whole from its opening day in the autumn of 2015.
