Release of Clos des Grives 2013: A journey in the Rhône Valley

Already 60 years old – and organic for 45 of them – and yet Clos des Grives, which has just released its 2013 vintage, has barely a wrinkle. The release is being marked by a video clip presenting the wine which comes from a Crozes Hermitage plot steeped in history. Red and white, Syrah and Roussane, this pair of wines – only produced in extremely restricted quantities for the white – are of such exceptional quality that their release never goes unnoticed.

Ideally located between the Alps and the Rhône, the Clos des Grives each year produces a wine so mellow, so complex and of such finesse as to render it unique. The 2013 vintage demanded an immense amount of work in the vineyards to produce a healthy though low yielding crop. A maturing period of one year and an additional year of bottle ageing in the estate’s cellar have resulted in a 2013 vintage that is well-balanced with great finesse. Its density and balance, largely attributable to the old vines planted in 1952 and organic practices introduced in 1970, make this a great wine with an ageing potential that is exemplary in the northern Rhône Valley.

By plane, car or on foot, this clip will allow you to discover Clos des Grives in the course of a trip through the countryside, which can be prolonged agreeably by a tasting of the new 2013 vintage.
